「世界の課題」を、自分の言葉で語る。― 「奥・井ノ上記念日本青少年国連訪問団」国際連合本部（ニューヨーク）視察レポート ―

オーストラリアで気づいた「差別」の現実
問題意識を持つきっかけとなったのは、留学先のオーストラリアでの生活でした。現地では、人種差別が日常の中に存在している現実に直面。強い衝撃を受けると同時に、
「これまで私は、差別をどこか他人事として見ていたのではないか」
と、自分自身を見つめ直す経験となりました。
「世界で起きている問題を、“自分事”として考えられるか。」
オーストラリアでの留学や、甲陵高校でのユネスコ部の活動を通して得た学びをもとに、「国際理解・国際協力のための主張コンクール」に出場し、人種差別問題や国際支援の在り方について発表を行いました。
その結果、本大会で「法務大臣賞」を受賞し、「奥・井ノ上記念日本青少年国連訪問団」の一員として、米国の国際連合本部へ派遣していただくことになりました（令和8年3月22日～28日）。
UNDP（国連開発計画）訪問で変わった「支援」への考え方
その後訪問したUNDP（国連開発計画）では、国連職員の方から印象的な言葉を聞きました。
「援助を受ける人々が、本当に何を必要としているのかを考える必要がある」
学校で行われる募金活動や寄付活動。
一見“良いこと”に見える支援も、場合によっては現地の課題を深刻化させてしまうことがあります。
例えば、先進国から大量に送られた衣類が、アフリカ地域では処理しきれず、ごみ問題につながってしまうケースもあります。
だからこそUNDPでは、物を与えるだけではなく、「生産方法を教える支援」を大切にしているそうです。
この経験を通して、
「相手の立場に立って考えること」
の本当の意味と重みを学びました。
「世界の問題」を、自分の問題として考える
今回の訪問で、人種差別や国際支援について、単なる知識としてではなく、
“自分なら何ができるのか”
という視点から考えを深めました。
国際問題は、遠い国の出来事ではありません。
世界とつながる今の時代だからこそ、
一人ひとりが「自分事」として向き合うことが求められています。
甲陵が育てたいのは、「考え、行動できる人」
本校では、探究活動や国際交流を通して、
社会課題に向き合い、自分の考えを発信できる力を育てています。
知識を学ぶだけでは終わらない。
世界を知り、自分で考え、行動する。
その学びのきっかけが、ここにあります。

Speaking About “World Problems” in My Own Words
— Report on the Visit to the United Nations Headquarters in New York —

Learning About Discrimination in Australia
The student first became interested in world problems during life in Australia.
There, the student saw that racial discrimination still exists in daily life.
The experience was very shocking.
At the same time, the student began to think,
“Maybe I had seen discrimination as someone else’s problem.”
This became an important chance to think deeply about society and about oneself.
“Can We Think About World Problems as Our Own Problems?”
Through studying in Australia and activities in the UNESCO Club at Koryo High School, the student learned a lot about international understanding and cooperation.
Based on these experiences, the student joined a speech contest about international understanding and international cooperation.
The student gave a speech about racial discrimination and international support.
As a result, the student won the “Minister of Justice Award.”
Then, the student was chosen as a member of the “Oku-Inoue Memorial Japanese Youth United Nations Delegation” and visited the United Nations Headquarters in the United States.
A New Understanding of “Support” at UNDP
Later, the student visited the United Nations Development Programme.
There, a UN staff member said something very important:
“We should understand what people really want and need.”
At school, students often join charity and donation activities.
These activities may look good, but sometimes they can make local problems worse.
For example, too many clothes sent from developed countries can become garbage in some African areas because people cannot process them all.
That is why UNDP values support that teaches people how to produce things by themselves, not only giving things to them.
Through this experience, the student learned the true meaning of
“thinking from another person’s point of view.”
Thinking About World Problems as Our Own Problems
During this visit, the student thought more deeply about racial discrimination and international support.
These were no longer only topics in books or classes.
The student began to think,
“What can I do?”
International problems are not only problems in faraway countries.
Today, the world is strongly connected.
That is why each person needs to think about world problems as their own problems.
What Koryo High School Wants to Develop
At Koryo High School, students learn through research activities and international exchange programs.
We would like students to face social problems and share their own ideas with others.
Learning does not end with knowledge alone.
Students learn about the world, think by themselves, and take action.
